Review: Trinidad Reyes

trinidad-reyes

This cigar has been in my humidor for a while, I picked it up because my local shop had it reduced, and I had never tried a cigar from this brand, so on impulse I picked one up.

I was not expecting much, as this is a thin ring gauge stick, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

Appearance 9.5/10

This cigar has a lovely chocolate brown colour, it has no visible veins, and is very well constructed for a small stick. It has great cap construction, with an odd little twist of wrapper at the end.

Construction & Draw 9.0/10

For a relatively thin gauge cigar the draw is pretty much perfect, it was cool and easy, producing a large volume of deliciously smelling smoke.

Flavour 9.0/10

This cigar really packs a great deal of flavor into a small package. I immediately picked up lovely cocoa flavors, and as I got further into the stick I got a lovely nutty flavour, followed by a surprising caramel hint in the last third. I really did not want this cigar to end.

Value 8.5/10

I got this cigar at a reduced price, so to be honest it was a bargain. At around 9 GBP its not cheap but I think represents pretty good value for money as the flavor profile was so good.

Summary 9.0/10

This is a cracking 40 minute smoke, I really did not expect it to be so good. It had a great cool draw and bags of flavor, and the flavour stuck all the way to the nub, all in all very impressive.

These are going on my list of cigars to be added to my humidor when I have some room, and I will also be looking to try other Trinidad cigars, if the larger gauge cigars are as good as this they will be a treat.
