Review: Camacho Corojo – Machitos

Camacho Machitos

I am always looking for the perfect small cigar, whilst I love sitting down with a single malt and spending and hour or more with a great smoke, I dont get many opportunities to do so, a 25-30 minute smoke would be ideal.  I have tried a few mini’s (Cohibas etc) and whilst they are great they are over a little quickly.

So I thought I would try a small cigar around the 30 ring gauge mark, and the Machitos seemed a perfect size.

Appearance 6/10

The wrapper is a dark oily brown, they have some fairly large veins for a small cigar, each cigar comes wrapped in cellophane.

Construction & Draw 3/10

The construction is okay but nothing special. The cigars seem fairly lightly packed, and are very soft to the touch, the cigar is easy to light,  but it feels like sucking on air, there is plenty of smoke, however the aroma is not very pleasant.

Flavor 2/10

Okay I will be honest I did not like these cigars. There is a strong flavor there, but its sharp and brutal with no richness, and leaves an incredibly strong peppery taste in your mouth. Now I like a bit of pepper in a cigar, but not pepper that makes you want to eat or drink something just to get rid of the taste!

Value 3/10

They are cheap, they come in a nice tin, and to be honest thats about it

Summary 2.5/10

They are cheap, they come in a tin, ohh sorry I said that, just trying to think of something else to say. Well they are slightly better than some cigars you can buy in the supermarket (although most of the Villager range is much better). As you can see I did not like this stick and I will not be buying again.
